Our Place

Nestled in a warm, often misty valley, protected by the volcanic hills from which we source our pure spring water, Pōkeno is for us a hidden treasure of our remote and beautiful land - and a natural choice of location for our state-of-the-art distillery.

Everything we do here is driven by our goal to create one of the world's great single malts. Batch production, long fermentation and slow distillation are just a few of the things that help make us different. As craft distillers, we are also able to focus on quality over quantity, on doing things our way, not the easy way.

We select only the finest casks to mature our precious spirit, and our warm sub-tropical local climate accelerates its maturation and flavour development. In Pōkeno the angels do not wait.

All of this allows us to produce single malt whisky with exceptional body and flavour; whisky that captures the pure spirit of Aotearoa New Zealand.
